Summary

Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are usually corporations and usually non-profit.  Non-profit does not mean that a corporation does not make profit – it is a taxation and administrative designation.  NGOs operate around the world and may not necessarily be anchored to the laws or policies of a specific country.  NGOs are often used by governments to shape policies and enforce political objectives.  NGOs do not make law or policy.  Many NGOs claim to be philanthropic in nature but that appears to be a cover for their unstated true objectives.
